Short - Staffed Engine Company Operations
Class Description:
8 hr class
The Engine Co. is widely considered the backbone of the fire service. This units initial actions can make or break the results of a working incident. While performing multiple tasks, this company is often understaffed, which can lead to catastrophic results if not prepared. Some units run with two (2) or even one (1) person, but those that made the decision to staff them that way still expect excellence. How do you make it work?
This course will give participants “options” for success when faced with minimal personnel. We will combine classroom discussion with hands on skill stations to bring these actions to life.
- Attack line set up and deployment
- Beginning the water supply process
- Overcoming stretching short
- Selecting and stretching the first line
- Using and maneuvering the initial attack line
“Making due with a few” is a reality for today’s Engine Co. Those you protect deserve your best, regardless of the circumstances. Be prepared to rise to the occasion when your opportunity comes.
